About Me

Taynasia S.

Hello! My name is Taynasia Sistrunk, and I am an 20 year old artist from New Jersey. I love all forms of art from Graphic design to more traditional forms like painting. I also enjoy customizing sneakers and clothing. I am self-taught for the most part and attended art school for a short period of time. I now pursue business back in NJ. To commission me please message me on Instagram or send me an email at [email protected].

iamtaart mission statement

I began to create art because I wanted to show people who looked like me. My art is a representation for all the young African American children who don’t see themselves much, whether that’s in the media or in their daily lives. I capture the uniqueness in people through my engaging color palettes, sui generis style and techniques.I am often inspired by my physical self and my imagination, I create people I’d want to be friends. This captures my audiences attention, wondering what my subjects story is. Mediums that I utilize on a daily basis consist of paint, graphite, and digital software. I’ve been able to hone skills such as embroidery, colored pencil and screen printing. The pieces seen in portfolio were made over the previous year, essentially it’s my quarantine art. Guiding myself through new mediums such as oil pastel which is seen in the work “Cherry Bomb” and gouache which is utilized in “bôrdəm, “ Ive been able to experiment outside of my comfort zone and create art that Im proud of.Gouache, oil paints or pastel are mediums that I seek to utilize and even master. They are vibrant and I love the texture you can create by layering and scratching away. My artistic process is sporadic, I often jump out of bed at 12 am to paint and go to bed at 4am feeling accomplished.Ive had many experiences push me to further my skill and contribute to the way I make art. Selling my first piece of art was extremely impactful on me and I now strive to gift everyone the opportunity to have great art. I’d like my art to be accessible for everyone to enjoy. Another experience I’ve been honored to have is working with the kids in my community, I lead digital art classes and discuss art with the younger generation. I want to inspire the kid who only has crayons to create all that they can.
